Electronic Parking Brake (EPB)
Electronic Parking Brake (EPB)
CAUTION: In the unlikely event that your vehicle loses electrical power, you will not be able to select another gear and therefore will be unable to release the parking brake. Contact Fisker via the Fisker App for assistance.
The Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) operates on the rear wheels only, and is independent of the pedal-operated brake system.
The parking brake automatically applies when P (Park) is selected, and releases when the accelerator pedal is pressed in D or R.
Note: The driver’s door must be closed and the driver’s seat belt fastened before the parking brake automatically releases.
The EPB also applies automatically when the vehicle power is turned Off.
To manually release the EPB, hold the brake pedal and press the EPB switch on the dash, to the left of the steering wheel.
The red parking brake indicator (telltale) is displayed on the Driver Display whenever the EPB is engaged.
CAUTION: Always confirm the parking brake is applied (telltale illuminated) before leaving the vehicle. If the telltale is not illuminated, press the EPB switch.
If the red parking brake warning indicator is flashing, a fault has been detected and the parking brake may not be applied. Contact Fisker via the Fisker App to have the fault repaired.
Emergency use
CAUTION: Driving the vehicle with the EPB applied, or repeated use of the EPB to slow the vehicle, may cause serious damage to the brake system.
In an emergency, pressing and holding the EPB switch gives a gradual reduction in speed. Releasing the EPB switch stops the deceleration. If the vehicle’s speed is less than 2 mph (3 km/h), the EPB automatically applies to bring the vehicle to a stop.
Parking on a slope
WARNING: In snowy or icy conditions, the rear wheels may not have sufficient traction to prevent the vehicle from sliding when parked on a slope. You are always responsible for parking safely.
As an added precaution:
-
If your vehicle is parked on a hill and facing uphill, turn the steering wheel so the front wheels are pointing away from the curb.
-
If your vehicle is parked on a hill and facing downhill, turn the steering wheel so the front wheels are pointing towards the curb.
