About eCall

Your vehicle is equipped with eCall, an emergency call system that can be activated manually or automatically in emergency situations to connect you with emergency responders.

If the airbag control module detects that an airbag has deployed, an eCall will be initiated. eCall will automatically attempt to connect to the nearest Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). Once a connection is established, you will be placed on a call with a PSAP operator, who will receive a data report from the vehicle. This data can include:

  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

  • Timestamp of the incident

  • GPS location and direction of travel

  • Number of passengers

The PSAP operator will route your vehicle incident information and voice call to the appropriate emergency services.

Note: Even if the peripherals used to make the call (microphone, speakers) are damaged in a collision, emergency services will still be contacted even if you cannot communicate with PSAP operators.

Note: When an eCall is in progress, all other audio sources are muted automatically. Once the eCall ends, you must manually unmute these items.

Using eCall

To manually activate eCall, press the SOS button located on the overhead console. The button illuminates in red.

The call status displays on the Central Touchscreen.

Note: The SOS button is intended ONLY for use in an emergency situation, such as a collision, illness, or a threat to the safety of the vehicle and its passengers. Do not use the SOS button for non-emergency situations, such as problems with the vehicle.

Canceling eCall

Note: Once the eCall system is connected to a PSAP operator, only the operator can end the eCall.
