WARNING: Never mount a “weight-distributing” or “load-balancing” trailer hitch. The vehicle is not designed for these types of trailer hitches. The trailer hitch can malfunction and the trailer can detach from the vehicle.
WARNING: Do not modify or attempt to repair the trailer hitch. Unauthorized modifications or repairs can lead to a malfunction and the trailer can detach from the vehicle.
Connecting and disconnecting a trailer
WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle and trailer are stationary and secured (e.g., trailer wheels chocked, vehicle brakes applied) before connecting or disconnecting them. Unexpected vehicle movement can result in death, personal injury, and property damage.
The connection or disconnection of a trailer should take place when the trailer is stationary, and unwanted movement of the vehicle should be avoided. Before connecting or disconnecting a trailer:
-
To avoid unexpected rolling, connection and disconnection of a trailer should be performed on level ground, not on hills or slopes.
-
Shift the vehicle into P (Park) once it is positioned.
-
Chock all trailer wheels.
Trailer hitch (if equipped - North America)
WARNING: To prevent injury or damage, always remove the ball hitch mount from the vehicle when it is not in use.
Remove the two plugs on the underside of the hitch cover, then pull to remove.
Only use a Fisker-authorized trailer hitch with a removable ball hitch mount and ball hitch. The trailer hitch must be permitted for the vehicle, the trailer, and the permitted total weight of the trailer being pulled. Above all, it must be securely and safely attached to the trailer.
Never mount a trailer hitch on the bumper. The trailer hitch must be mounted in a way that does not impair the function of the bumper. Do not make any changes to the brake system.Check regularly if the trailer hitch is securely mounted. Always follow the instructions given by the trailer hitch manufacturer.
Electronic trailer hitch (if equipped - Europe)
WARNING: Keep people and objects clear of the path of the trailer hitch when extending or retracting.
WARNING: To prevent injury or damage, always return the electronic trailer hitch to the stowed position when not in use.
To extend the electronic trailer hitch, the following conditions must be met:
-
Vehicle is stationary.
-
Liftgate is open. See Liftgate Opening and Closing.
-
Press the trailer hitch switch, located on the right side of the trunk interior. When the previous conditions have been met, the LED on the switch illuminates.
-
The indicator light will flash until the tow bar is moved into the saved position (i.e., working or parking).
-
Ensure that the ball neck is locked securely and in the end position.
-
If the switch is pressed a second time within four seconds while the indicator light is lit, the towbar will unlock and then manually move to the working or parking position until locked. If no second press of the switch is performed within four seconds while the indicator light is lit, the indicator light is turned off.
To unlock the ball neck to move it to stowed position, unplug the electrical connector and detach the trailer from the ball neck.
Safety chains
Safety chains should always be attached between the vehicle and the trailer. Installation instructions for safety chains may be provided by the trailer manufacturer.
Cross the chains under the trailer coupler to help prevent the tongue from contacting the road if it becomes separated from the hitch. Leave enough slack in the chains for turning tight corners, but do not allow them to drag on the ground.
Trailer wiring harness (if equipped)
CAUTION: When attaching a trailer wiring connector to your vehicle, only use a properly-fitting connector that works with the vehicle and trailer functions.
A connector is available to bring the necessary power and related functions to the trailer you are towing.
North America: The 7-pin connector is located to the right of the hitch. It is accessible when the hitch cover is removed.
Europe: The 13-pin connector is located on the hitch arm. It is accessible when the hitch is extended.
